Melania Trump: Donald’s wife cradles ill child in her arms visiting a hospital

MELANIA TRUMP, 48, met children today at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. Donald’s wife has been spreading the message of her Be Best campaign in latest trips.

Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, met child patients today.

The former-model visited a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Wearing a stunning grey dress, Melania lavished love and affection on the poorly children she met.

She cradled one child, Essence Overton, with her hand around her head, leading in for an affectionate kiss.

The four-year-old little girl, in a pink outfit, wrapped one arm around Melania’s neck with her hand in her hair.

Donald Trump’s wife also attended a roundtable discussion on neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS).

This is the term for when a baby experiences withdrawal from drugs after birth.

It occurs when an expecting mother is using the substances throughout her pregnancy.

This is another part of Melania’s Be Best initiative to focus on children’s welfare.

Melania’s spokesperson revealed the opioid crisis is one area the First Lady hopes to focus on.

“One of the three pillars of ‘Be Best’ centres around opioid abuse and its effects on children,” Trump’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told CNN.

In March Melania said: “In my role as first lady, much of my focus has been towards understanding the negative effects the opioid crisis is having on our children and young mothers.

”Many young mothers are not even aware of this disease, so we must continue educating them about the real dangers of opioids on unborn babies.”
