As President Trump and first lady Melania continue their visit to Britain today, they have been met with much adoration and respect from U.K. leaders such as Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth II.
Melania has also struck out on her own to attend an event held by Theresa May’s husband where she got to visit with children and veterans to play a game of bocce ball, or “lawn bowls” as they are called in Britain.
Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shared a surprise picture on Twitter from earlier that day when President Trump was visiting the country estate of Prime Minster May.
The 16th century manor house estate is called “Chequers” and it is situated in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom.
In the photo, President Trump was seated in Winston Churchill’s chair with a giant grin on his face.
A British Ambassador told the New York Times that this was planned far in advance due to their knowledge of Trump’s admiration of Winston Churchill.
“We wanted to do something different for the president. We know that he is an enthusiast of Winston Churchill. He’s a big fan of the film ‘Darkest Hour,’ so we thought it would be nice to do a dinner for him at Blenheim Palace.”
What an incredible surprise for President Trump to sit in the chair of a man admired around the world.
